Steve Olechna
Owner & Author

Steve Olechna is a lifelong resident of Connecticut, USA. Born on the Groton Submarine Base, he grew up in Granby, then after college moved to West Hartford where his four kids were born and raised.

Some of his fondest memories are coaching and attending his kids’ sporting events. Creating fantasy comics such as Spider Bites with his daughter and superhero comics such as The Flipster and Ping Pong Boy with all the kids in the early years was also a complete ball. The signature superhero titles originated from playing Ping-Pong in the basement where he challenged them to come up with the lamest superpowers possible. Serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader was great fun too, with the Pinewood Derby an annual highlight for them and Grandpa Olechna.

Besides Steve’s full-time job in Technology and Risk Management, he is the owner of Supertivity™, LLC, a business focused on creative risk management, publishing, and entertainment. Company slogan: Community fun for a better, safer world! Supertivity has produced Wake up Call – Use Two Hold True!, a safe-driving product with merchandise available for free download. www.supertivity.com.

Steve continues to be active in the creative and performing arts and has worked in numerous mediums and exhibited and performed in diverse venues, in some instances to sold-out shows.

His risk management art sculptures have been displayed at Dada art exhibits in Hartford. In keeping with the Supertivity mission, the artwork incorporates themes of child safety and racial harmony. As a member of the West Hartford Faxon Poets, he leveraged his prior poetry and comics self-publishing experience to spearhead the creation of the Faxon’s annual Perspectives anthologies and served as its publisher and editor. In addition, he performs his popular, audience-wide-participation Poetry in Motion show for elementary schoolers and senior groups.

Prior to the kids’ comics, Steve published dark matter, the critically acclaimed, sci-fi superhero comic, under the Steve Kirkland pen name. He also acts in amateur productions and performs as a stand-up comedian, Elvis impersonator, Joker impersonator, game show host, juggler, magician, and Stevie Seashell folk hero. In addition, he is a one-man operation in the Neighborhood Watch Clockwise Unicycle Patrol he founded.
